Entrance / activity fees are expensive anywhere in New Zealand and having spent so much in the South Island, we were rather ‘selective’ in North Island. Would have taken part in more activities had it not been so expensive.
Had wanted to climb up Auckland Harbour Bridge, but at NZ$ 120.00, decided to give it a miss.
The Sky Tower looks ‘tempting’, but then again… After almost four weeks in the country, the pocket was drying up and the 360 degree view from Mt Eden (on our first day in Auckland) more than ‘compensated’ for not willing to part with another hefty entrance fee! If that was any consolation at all!
Entrance fee (as of November 2009):
Glowworm (Waitomo) Cave: NZ$ 39.00 (more if covered more than one cave)
Wai-o-tapu thermal area: NZ$ 30.00
Maori concert with Hangi dinner: NZ$ 99.00
Rotorua museum: NZ$ 12.00
